The River Thames is missing!

Not literally of course but the powers to be at Transport for London have removed it from the latest tube map! However the esteemed Mayor of London has ordered them to put it back on the next print.

People have been making a fuss because the London tube map is a brilliant piece of publicity and of course information. It was first introduced in 1933 and was based on an electrical circuit and is a masterpiece of simplicity.

It is slightly incorrect to call it a tube map however. The term tube only refers to the deep level lines which were built using a boring machine. The rest of the system is known as the Underground and was built on the cut and cover system where a deep trench was dug, the railway was than built and covered over.

That reminds me of the time when the BBC had a weathermap from which northern Scotland was nearly missing

Hi Andy, thanks for visiting my Blog. I hadn't realised it had been so long since I last read yours. To say I was shocked is an understatement. I'm so sorry to hear that you have ben having such a bad time. As for that rude doctor in the summer, well, what goes around, comes around. He'll get his!!! He shouldn't be allowed to practise with that sort od attitude!

I still miss the AOL Blogs, part of my trouble is that for months I couldn't remember how to sign in to here, I have no recollection of a Google account, so didn't know which e-mail address I'd used.

I think I'd better do an update of my life, more for myself as I don't think many people read these Blogs now. I guess I'm just an old misery, I don't like change in familar things and J Land was such a great place.

Hope you have turned the corner now and that things start to pick up for you.

Love from Linda xx
