Major Celebration and Major Disappointment

Hi

As you are probably aware last Thursday was the day the A level results were published. After a couple of jittery days I am pleased, no delighted to tell you that my daughter obtained an A* in Chemistry an A* in physcology as well as a B in physics. This means she leaves school with 12 GCSE's and 7 A levels which makes her poor old dad feel like a has been! She has also obtained a place to study medicine at Hull York Medical school and as you can imagine I am very proud of her.

To celebrate I thought I would take her to Jamie Olivers Italian restaurant at Canary Wharf in London's Docklands. We have been there before and you do not need a reservation so you can imagine our bitter disappointment to find that due to a computer problem the could only take people who had booked and were on there list. We asked if we could book for later in the day and were told in a very defiant way NO. The restaurant was deserted with only about three tables occupied but they still maintained that they could not take any orders, have they never heard of pen and paper. A very disappointing end to what should of been a very special day.

Andy Congradulations on bringing up a wonderful daughter,,without parents in the background encouraging behind her she would not have been such a credit to you. I think starting out on a medical career is so exciting and I am sure in a few years time she will become a wonderful Dr. and again a credit to her great Dad.

Congratulations to your daughter on her past achievements and my best wishes for her future success in the search of more knowledge that I hope never ceases.

The computer does not have a problem except with faulty input.
Human nature is to pass the buck. When anyone tries to blame a computer for their own errors they reduce their own veracity in more ‘bits’ than they are capable of recovering.
Perhaps Jamie is now so well known he feels he can fail to feed the fire that made him a household name and take his relief from the daily workload of carrying fuel.
I see him as one more person who relieves himself on the very people who made his fortune.
If you are born of fire then by fire you will die.
I suggest that restaurant urgently requires a fire extinguisher.

Congratulations to your daughter. You obviously passed along some very serious smarts.

Shame about the restaurant but you usually end up paying through the nose at these celeb places so I can't help thinking they did you a favour in the long run.(As long as you didn't end up in a McD's!)

Mr Smarty Pants! And MISS Smarty Pants too. When does she go off to uni? If she's staying in Hull that's only just across the river from us. What about Jamie Olivers eh? Such arrogance. But you know, a huge number of people today are incapable of working things out on the back of an envelope!

Andy that is fabulous news about your daughter's grades! What a 'star' she is! I know how proud you must be feeling as my own daughter graduated as a teacher this August.
What a shame about the restaurant but hey! At least your intentions were good and I'm sure you had a great day together as a family anyway.
Many congratulations to her and good luck also for her future in medicine.
